There's no better time than the present to make the switch to a responsive website. Google has announced that effective April 21, 2015, if your website is not responsive (also known as mobile-friendly) it runs a huge risk of not showing up in Google's mobile search results.
According to Google, around 60% of all Google searches are conducted on mobile devices. These searchers want websites that they can easily use, even when viewing them on smaller screens. A website that is tiny and difficult to read is useless to them. Much like with any search query, most people aren't going to scroll passed the first page of results. The last thing anyone wants is a page of search rankings that are useless to them.
Google has always factored a website's mobile usability into their search algorithm. Now that factor will be even heavier. Google knows the value of a first page search result, which is why only the most qualified websites earn that honour. Not having a responsive website not only takes away your chances at a first page ranking, but possibly ranking all together.
More than ever, customers are turning to search engines to do research before choicing a company to do business with. Don't lose out on potential customers because your website doesn't rank. Investing in a responsive website now could be one of the best business decisions you make this year.
